Youth Union of the Diocese of Artsakh

Throughout the spiritual and liturgical life of the Diocese of Artsakh, devout, patriotic, and committed youth have always played an active role. With their presence and participation, they have strived to keep the light of Christian faith burning brightly and to spread it throughout the land of Artsakh.

Following the reopening of the Diocese of Artsakh in 1989, a group of young people who had gathered and received spiritual and educational formation at the Gandzasar Monastery became foundational pillars for the future activities of the Diocese. Some of them later joined the ranks of the clergy and spiritual servants.

In the years that followed, parish youth unions began to form in active churches throughout the Diocese, contributing significantly to the strengthening of local communities.

Youth primarily served at the altars of parish churches—many of whom eventually entered and graduated from the Gevorkian Theological Seminary of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, becoming ordained clergy.

Under the guidance of parish priests, the youth unions of the Diocese of Artsakh carried out the following activities:

  • Regular spiritual talks and discussions for youth on church-related topics
  • Promotion of Christian knowledge and values through the Diocese’s youth platforms
  • Organization of spiritual and cultural events, liturgical singing courses, and Christian education sessions
  • Coordination of pilgrimages to sacred sites

After the forced displacement of 2023, members of the Diocese’s youth unions settled in different regions of Armenia. Nevertheless, the Diocese of Artsakh continues to do its utmost to keep its devoted youth united around the Church.

Today, the Youth Union of the Diocese of Artsakh continues to gather faithful and spiritually committed youth around the Diocese. It ensures its active involvement in the programs of the ACYOWorld Central Office and initiates a wide array of Christian educational and spiritual projects in cooperation with various youth organizations and institutions in both Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia.
