Interview with the primate of the Artsakh Diocese to the French radio company
The Primate of the Artsakh diocese, His Grace Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan, was visiting Sud Radio at the invitation of the French radio company.
In the course of the interview, His Eminence presented to correspondent Philip David the path of Artsakh and the people of Artsakh, the long-term struggle of the Artsakh people for life in an independent and free homeland.
In response to a correspondent's question about the current situation in Artsakh, His Grace spoke about the aggression carried out by the Azerbaijani armed forces in Artsakh in recent days, as a result of which there are dead and wounded on the Armenian side.
His Grace stressed: “Azerbaijan is carrying out psychological, humanitarian and physical terror against the people of Artsakh in order to expel Armenians from Artsakh, but we continue to live in our homeland with faith and hope for the future.”
Speaking about the war of 2020, he stressed that if Azerbaijan did not have the support of various countries, in particular Turkey, then the outcome of the war would definitely be in favor of the Armenian side. And if there were no Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh after the war, there would be no Armenians left in Artsakh today.
Asked what is the role of France in this matter and what France could have done more than it did, His Grace replied. “France has always been on the side of the truth. We are grateful for this position, we certainly expect more. The Artsakh-Armenia-Diaspora connection has always been strong, and the Armenians of France play a special role in this unity, feeding a special warmth to Artsakh.”
Speaking about the religion of Artsakh, His Grace noted: “Christianity begins and ends in Artsakh, outside of our country-Muslim countries, and we hold this gate.”
At the end of the interview, Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan thanked for the invitation.
