Spiritual and cultural victory. Revival of Saint Hakobavank
In the hall of the Matenadaran - at the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts of Mesrop Mashtots, on September 26, a conference was held on the topic "Restoration of St. Hakobavank and development of the Qolatak community."
The charitable idea of the conference was based on the comprehensive restoration and popularization of the monastery. A number of organizations, scientists, intellectuals and, in general, interested persons who wish to contribute to the sacred cause of preserving the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Motherland have gathered around this idea.
The conference began with the announcement of the message of the Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, with which the Armenian Patriarch blessed the participants of the conference, expressing his satisfaction.
The Primate of the Artsakh Diocese, His Grace Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan, with whose blessing and fatherly support the program was launched, inspired the forum participants with his speech. Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan noted the importance of the restoration and preservation of St. Hakobavank for the spiritual and cultural development of the country, considering the ancient shrine as a symbol of the perpetuation of the people of Artsakh.
“The revival of St. Hakobavank should not only be a reason for the spiritual awakening of this monastery and region but also a symbol of the struggle against the expedition of destruction or false presentation of the monastery as albanian, launched against our centuries-old culture,” the Holy Father said in his speech.
During the conference, the presentation of the book “The memory of St. Jacob the Patriarch among Armenians” by Lilit Simonyan, candidate of historical sciences, ethnographer, psychologist, composer, took place.
It is worth noting that the Artsakh Diocese has announced the year 2022 as the year of the revival of St. Hakobavank.
