Solar water heater and solar panel
FOR OPERATING CHURCHES, MONASTERIES AND CLERGY HOUSES OF THE ARTSAKH DIOCESE
ENERGY SAVING PROGRAM
The energy component is one of the important factors in the normal functioning of modern society, without which it is impossible to imagine human life in the 21st century. It is no secret that after the Armenian-Azerbaijani war of 2020, most of Artsakh was occupied by Azerbaijan, as a result of which the rest was under siege, and the Lachin corridor connecting Armenia with Artsakh is constantly blocked by the enemy. The Azerbaijani side, among various mechanisms of pressure, widely uses its tools of energy terror, cutting high-voltage electrical wires coming from Armenia to Artsakh, damaging the only gas pipeline entering Artsakh, passing through the territories occupied by Azerbaijan.
Thus, the Azerbaijani side has the opportunity to constantly intervene, and, taking the opportunity, from time to time they cut off the flow of gas to Artsakh, and from April 2023 to the present, gas supply has been stopped by Azerbaijan for an indefinite period and sometimes they also cut off electricity for months. There is only one goal: to use the mechanism of energy pressure to deepen the economic crisis in Artsakh and force the people of Artsakh to leave their homeland.
Along with this situation, today there are very few electricity reserves in Artsakh to meet the needs of the country, which is why there are frequent power outages, 3 times a day for 2 hours each. The shortage of electricity and the overloaded work of the only hydroelectric power station in Artsakh have practically dried up and put the Sarsang reservoir and the surrounding nature on the brink of a natural disaster.
Purpose of the project:
- Taking into account the current situation and the social crisis situation, it’s important to provide the existing churches, monasteries and clergy houses of the Artsakh Diocese with solar water heaters and solar panels, which will make it possible to have hot water and electricity at any time.
- Thanks to this, the Artsakh Diocese will become self-sufficient in terms of energy, leave increases of energy to the state, and will also contribute to the introduction and development of a green energy culture in Artsakh.
- In the pastoral life of the church, the availability of hot water is essential for performing baptisms with warm water, especially for infant baptisms, and for maintaining an adequate standard of living in terms of hygiene in general.
The objects of paramount importance for the constant provision of hot water and electricity to the Artsakh Diocese are:
