Police Barriers Against Prayer
On May 28, after the Divine Liturgy and the Republican Blessing in celebration of the Feast of St. Gayane, His Holiness the Catholicos of All Armenians, accompanied by the clergy, visited the Sardarapat Memorial Complex.
The Armenian Patriarch and the clergy faced police barricades that initially barred them from entering the memorial site. After overcoming these barriers multiple times, they managed to lay flowers at the memorial and offer prayers for the souls of the brave Armenians martyred in the May battles.
We strongly denounce such actions by law enforcement against the Armenian Patriarch and clergy. These actions only exacerbate divisions within the nation. We urge authorities to refrain from steps that lead to national fragmentation.
May the Lord awaken vigilance within our people and protect the borders of Armenia.
