Photo Exhibition "Ascending to Shushi"

With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan, Primate of the Artsakh Diocese, the Artsakh office of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU), in collaboration with the Hamazgayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society, hosted a photo exhibition titled “Ascending to Shushi.” The event took place at the AGBU Armenia Gallery, showcasing the works of photographer Vladimir Gevorgyan. Through 45 photographs, Vladimir portrayed the spiritual and cultural essence of Shushi, its radiant light, warmth, the city’s people, surrounding mountains, and nature.

The exhibition opened with a performance of an Artsakh folk song by singer Arthur Khachents..

In her opening remarks, Herminé Avagyan, director of Hamazkayin’s Artsakh office, noted: "These photos present the eternal city of Shushi, whose gaze reflects joy, deep sorrow, concern, contemplation, and boundless anticipation. Looking deeper, one sees that these images mirror ourselves. Shushi lives within us, awakening and resting in our hearts. As long as we exist and believe in the eternity of Shushi, the road to Shushi will always pass through our hearts. This path cannot be blocked, checkpointed, or taken from us—it is the sole road that leads from us to ourselves. As long as this road exists, Artsakh will live, the sparks of resistance will ignite, dreams will become goals, and those goals will lead us home."

Remarks were also made by Dr. Vahram Balayan, professor of history, Michael Hajyan, a member of Hamazkayin’s Board of Trustees, and photographer David Ghahramanyan.

Vladimir Gevorgyan expressed gratitude to Hamazkayin’s Artsakh office for their collaboration in realizing the exhibition.

The exhibition will remain open for five days.
