State and Church
At the beginning of the year, on the initiative of the Primate of the Artsakh Diocese, Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan, a new enterprise was launched, which should raise church-state cooperation to a new level.Priests will be involved in all administrative and security structures of the state. They must regularly visit and take spiritual care to the employees of the aforementioned structures.
On January 20, the primate of the Artsakh diocese met with the staff of the government of the Artsakh Republic, which was also attended by the State Minister of the Artsakh Republic Artak Beglaryan. The consecration ceremony of the government building was held. His Holiness introduced the newly appointed director of the Center for Christian Education and Propaganda of the Artsakh Diocese, Deacon Gor Gyurjyan, to the government. Ways for further cooperation in this area were outlined.
The meeting was held in a warm atmosphere of discussions. Those present welcomed the new format chosen by the Artsakh diocese, thanks to which the church should become more recognizable in our society. His Holiness noted that spiritual food is more important for a person than physical food. We should not neglect and show indifference to the harmonious development of our inner world, we should often attend church, receive blessings and peace from there, leave our sins and unnecessary worries there.
Expressing appreciation for such an initiative, State Minister of the Artsakh Republic Artak Beglaryan noted that it was expected for them to receive a clergyman in their building in such a format, and expressed hope that the meetings would be continuous also in other formats, and their good results would be visible to everyone.
