The 22nd anniversary of the Enthronement of the Patriarch of all Armenians
On November 7, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the 22nd anniversary of the enthronement of His Holiness Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II. A holy and immortal liturgy was served in the Armenian churches after which the patriarchal prayer was sounded.
Father Andreas Tavadyan performed the patriarchal prayer in the Church of St. Hovhannes Mkrtich in Gandzasar.
“Today is a fest in our church, because the 22nd anniversary of the enthronement of His Holiness Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II has passed. Today the Armenian Apostolic Church is praying for the Patriarch. We pray not only for the individual, but also for the Patriarchy, which has been held sacred for more than 1700 years. Starting with Gregory the Illuminator, our Patriarchs sit on the throne, forming a large chain. Today, one link in this chain celebrates the 22nd anniversary of His enthronement. And we, as sons of this church, are obliged to pray for our Patriarch and Patriarchy. This throne is not personal, but institutional, and it belongs to the institution of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, the head of which is Garegin II, Patriarch of all Armenians.
Our church has played an important role in the life of the Armenian people since the time of Gregory the Illuminator; it has played an important role in preserving the Armenian identity.
This throne has brought us great blessings, writing and literature, loyalty and love. We are obliged to live and pray with this love - the great love of Christ. "
