Freedom for Our Captive Brethren
We are following with heavy hearts the unjust and fabricated judicial proceedings against Armenian captives unlawfully held in Azerbaijan. These actions, clearly directed by the political leadership of Baku, stand in blatant violation of fundamental human rights and internationally recognized norms concerning prisoners. A stark example of this behavior is the trial scheduled for January 17, which is driven solely by political motives.
The apparent ineffectiveness of state-level efforts to date and the resolute stance of the Azerbaijani side compel us to act with greater determination and unity to defend the just cause of our people’s children. Regardless of our political views, subjective attitudes, or beliefs, we must recognize that today the military-political leadership of the Republic of Artsakh and all captives are being accused primarily for their efforts in advancing the independence and Armenian identity of Artsakh. This contrived and false trial is, above all, an affront to our national dignity.
Therefore, beloved compatriots, we call on everyone to pray and appeal to Almighty God to open the gates of His justice and mercy for our nation, to strengthen our compatriots in captivity, and to help them endure these severe trials and persecutions.
