Ghevondants Anapat Monastery
Askeran Province, Moshkhmaat village
Not too far from the village of Moshkhmhat, at the summit of a mountain, lies the Ghevondats Hermitage complex built over the relics of St. Ghevond the Elder. Although its exact date of construction is unknown, details of its architecture indicate early Christian styles. It was probably destroyed during Arab invasions and rebuilt in the 13th century. The Ghevondats Hermitage includes a church, vestibule, belfry and hospice, in addition to some monastic cells, now in ruins. The complex also had a will and orchard. The hermitage was destroyed and rebuilt in the 7th-18th centuries.
