Holy Savior Monastery

Martakert Province, Poghosagomer

This monastery is located on the right bank of the Trtu River, in a forested valley, between the villages of Kochghut, Chldran, Ghazarahogh, Poghosagomer and Drmbon. Holy Savior is small church, with a central dome. It was built by Hovhannes the Pious in 1669. The monastery was the spiritual and cultural center of the principality of Verin Khachen.

There are ruins of auxiliary buildings, old and new carefully designed cemetery gravestones and khachkars(cross stones)preserved in the surrounding of the church which have lithography and ornaments pertaining to the XII and XIII centuris.
