Sunday school "Grains of Pomegranate" of the church of the Holy Mother of God in the city of Askeran

Since 2002, the church of the Holy Mother of God of Askeran has been the spiritual center of the city of Askeran. After 20 years, a long-awaited and important event took place in Askeran for the spiritual growth of the city's population: by the will of God and at the initiative of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, in February 2022, the activities of Sunday schools started in various settlements, cities, regional centers and villages of Artsakh. A Sunday school called "Grains of Pomegranate" has opened in the church of the Holy Mother of God in Askeran. The school began its activities on February 13, 2022. Children from both Askeran and the nearby village became Sunday school students. Sunday School classes are different. Bible teaching, combined with manual work, interesting and educational games, contributes to the development of thinking, logic, memory in children, and also strengthens the connection with God. A fascinating method of conducting lessons, a great desire to get in touch with the spiritual sphere and love for God became the motive for increasing the number of children studying in Sunday schools. Currently, 30 students study at the Sunday school of the church of the Holy Mother of God of Askeran. Children also participate in the Holy Liturgy led by Rev. Father Mesrop Mkrtchyan, the spiritual pastor of the Church of the Holy Mother of God of Askeran. They perform their service to God already in the church during liturgies and services, applying previously acquired knowledge. Some of the children joined the church choir, and some joined the ranks of church ministers. Despite the summer holidays, the school continued its activities. Children learned chants, and also got acquainted with the orders and rules of the church. In summer, a pilgrimage was organized for children to the church of St. Stephen in the village of Patara. The children took part in the spiritual service and spent the whole day in the colorful forest of Patara village. Now the Sunday school continues to work with great enthusiasm. Day by day, the number of children who want to get to know and communicate with God is increasing, which further inspires the teaching staff to perform this important spiritual service.
