Koshik Anapat Monastic Complex

The Koshik Anapat Monastic Complex is located in the Martuni region of the Republic of Artsakh. It was one of the spiritual centers of the Khaghbakyan noble family of Artsakh and was built during the 11th–12th centuries.

The name “Koshik” is likely derived from the word “goshk”, which refers to groups of hermits living in the mountains. Since 2023, along with the entire territory of the former Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, the monastery has been under occupation by the Republic of Azerbaijan. The monastic site remains under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Artsakh of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
