Any Distortion of Reality Is Condemnable
It is deeply regrettable to hear such irresponsible statements about Artsakh and the Armenians of Artsakh from an official holding the highly responsible position of the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. Such short-sighted and ambitious remarks not only fail to contribute to solving the pressing issues in our homeland and ensuring the national unity we so desperately need, but on the contrary, they further deepen the artificially imposed divisions within our people.
Moreover, those with spiritual vision and perception can clearly see the true causes behind such behavior. The greatest sin committed by the first humans in Paradise was not merely eating the forbidden fruit but rather shifting the blame onto others instead of repenting when questioned by God. This phenomenon has been present throughout human history, and its only remedy lies in Christianity, which teaches us to first recognize our own faults and take responsibility for our actions. Following the 44-day Artsakh War, the nine-month blockade of Artsakh, and the forced displacement of its people in 2023, a destructive tendency has unfortunately taken root among a significant portion of our people—seeking to absolve themselves of responsibility. This approach has been reinforced by numerous short-sighted and divisive statements made at the highest levels of leadership. The latest statement by the Speaker of the National Assembly is merely a continuation of this same pattern.
We find no need to once again elaborate on the heroic resistance demonstrated by our people, who endured the hardships of a nine-month blockade and stood firm on September 19, 2023. As the Holy Scriptures say, "Whoever has eyes to see will see," and those unwilling to see reality will never do so. The greatest tragedy, however, is that individuals who know the truth all too well—who officially refused to help Artsakh in 2023—do not hesitate to once again distort reality, repeatedly rubbing salt into the unhealed wounds of the displaced people of Artsakh while also disregarding the heroism of the hundreds of young men who were martyred in 2023.
We pray that God grants wisdom to our people so that nothing and no one may cause artificial tensions and intolerance toward one another. The stronger love, forgiveness, and unity grow in our homeland, the sooner all our cherished dreams and aspirations will be fulfilled—dreams and aspirations that we firmly believe are shared by every Armenian.
