Baku Concerned by the Armenian Diocese’s Letter

Bishop Hovakim Manukyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of the United Kingdom and Ireland, along with the support of eight other ecclesiastical leaders, has addressed a letter to UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer regarding the Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan.

The letter provides a detailed account of how, following the forced displacement of Armenians in 2023, Azerbaijan arbitrarily imprisoned 23 Armenian government officials and civilians on fabricated charges. The spiritual leaders urged Prime Minister Starmer to take a firm stance in demanding that Azerbaijan fulfill its international obligations and release the detained Armenians.

The letter has caused significant concern in Azerbaijan.
