"Sunday School" at the Artsakh Diocese

On December 4, in the Cathedral of the Most Holy Theotokos of St. Hovhan in Stepanakert and in the youth hall of the Church of St. Karapet in Martakert, the project "Sunday School" was launched.

Sunday schools are schools for spiritual and aesthetic education that will work one day a week for children aged 8 to 12 and will contribute to the upbringing and cultural development of the younger generation. More than 60 children were involved in the first stage of the program. Since quarantine has been declared in the republic until December 24, and the health of our children is very dear to us, we do not want to endanger them, so Sunday school classes will begin from January next year.

As part of the program, children will have the opportunity;

  • gain theoretical knowledge about biblical truths, about the doctrine and sacred traditions of the Armenian Church,
  • strengthen your theoretical knowledge in practice with the help of crafts,
  • develop thinking,
  • will learn folk songs and dances,
  • practice spiritual chanting,
  • participate in various pilgrimages.

Artsakh Republic Minister of Education and Science Lusine Karakhanyan welcomed the opening of Sunday schools, noting that only by directing our gaze to God, we can have a wonderful vision of the future.
