"The Catholicos Fully Understood That Gaining Independence Is a Difficult Path": Bishop Vrtanes
On the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, during the gathering of Supreme Council deputies, His Grace Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan, Primate of the Diocese of Artsakh, delivered a speech in which he stated:
"When we reflect on the 1990s, we see this hall filled to capacity, not only with deputies but also with numerous guests, among whom was His Holiness Vazgen I, the Catholicos of All Armenians. The Catholicos knew well that achieving independence is a challenging path, but preserving it is three times as difficult. In this regard, it is an honor for all those who, on the path to independence, not only succeeded in brilliantly implementing all programs aimed at securing it but also sacrificed their lives for that independence."
