Conference on "Caucasian Albania and the Armenian-Albanian Church"
With the blessing of His Holiness the Catholicos, a workshop titled "Caucasian Albania and the Armenian-Albanian Church" took place on May 14 at the History Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.
The event was initiated by Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan of the Diocese of Artsakh and supported by the History and Oriental Studies Institutes.
It gathered around 50 participants, including clergy, historians, cultural experts, and other interested parties.
Speakers Alexan Hakobyan and Melanya Balayan presented the history of the Albanian ‘Aghvanits’ Church, addressing the Azerbaijani government's recent attempts to label Armenian cultural heritage as "Albanian." Discussions focused on strategies for effectively presenting Artsakh’s spiritual and cultural heritage to the international academic community.
Participants expressed a desire for more workshops and discussions on similar topics.
